Who Am I?
La'Sone Wharton-Kump · Founder
I am an OVERCOMER! I know the struggle of wanting more out of life while facing obstacle after obstacle — because I've lived it. I am the oldest of 10 children, and I learned early what it means to carry responsibility. I cared for and nurtured my brothers and sisters — often putting them ahead of myself — especially my brother with special needs, whose needs never took a day off. And I know the fight is won on the inside first.
In my final year of college, my future disappeared overnight. After a sexual assault, I faced an unexpected pregnancy — and I CHOSE to keep my baby, and I CHOSE myself. I was homeless, standing in food pantry lines, fighting through pain most people never saw. My faith is what carried me through — it held me when nothing else did. I refused to let condemnation keep me down, made the Dean's List, and turned my hardest season into my best year — because after carrying everyone else for so long, I finally understood that I had to prioritize myself first in order to handle everything else.
God took what was meant to destroy me and turned it into my greatest strength. Today I am a Certified Life Coach, a retired law enforcement officer with a combined 20-year career, the founder of AlabasterNY — a Christian ministry serving the underserved — and a mentor to young adults standing at life-altering crossroads. And my story is just beginning.
Now I come alongside my unsung heroes — the ones who show up for everyone else — to transform their mindset and become who they were created to be.
